85°C Bakery Café, a popular Taiwan-based chain, is continuing its expansion to the East Coast with the planned opening of a second location in New Jersey.
After signing a deal to lease a 3,507-square-foot space at Hanover Commons in East Hanover, the brand expects to debut its new café next year, according to Urban Edge Properties, the shopping center’s owner.
Founded 20 years ago in Taiwan – and named for the perfect temperature to brew espresso coffee – the popular chain is known for its handcrafted drinks, premium pastries, cakes, breads and other baked goods.
85°C Bakery Café now has more than 1,000 stores worldwide, including locations in China, Cambodia and Australia. The fast-growing chain has also added 60-plus cafés across California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Texas, Hawaii and Arizona since its arrival in the U.S. 15 years ago.
In August, 85°C Bakery Café revealed plans to make its East Coast debut next year in Cherry Hill at the Brace Road Station shopping center.
Amy Staats, vice president at Englewood Cliffs-based Katz & Associates, represented the eatery on the Cherry Hill deal, as well as helped broker the lease at Hanover Commons.
Justin Lustig, vice president, Leasing for Urban Edge Properties, commented, “There is much anticipation for this concept and their expansion to the East Coast. Hanover Commons provides a terrific environment to introduce their much-loved pastries and beverages to this property with high-traffic anchors and adjacent complementary uses.”
85°C Bakery Café will join tenants at the Route 10 power center including Home Depot, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Marshalls and Saks OFF 5th.
