Newark-based ‘ award-winning line of sustainably grown leafy greens will soon be available at Whole Foods Market locations nationwide.

In an Oct. 25 press release, the sustainable indoor agriculture company announced it is expanding beyond the popular supermarket’s Northeast region, citing “increased consumer demand” for its specialty greens.

Grown in state-of-the-art commercial vertical farms, AeroFarms specialty greens are completely pesticide free and ready to eat without any need to wash, providing a major benefit to customers looking for safety and convenience. In addition, its microgreens provide higher nutrient density than their mature green counterparts, offering a potent boost of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients.

The national launch also marks the first time an indoor grower is part of the Whole Foods Market global planogram, AeroFarms noted.

David Rosenberg, co-founder and chief executive officer of AeroFarms, said, “Our company is committed to reimagining the food system and how our food is grown, and we are excited to expand with Whole Foods who shares similar values.”

“Our distinct greens consistently win on quality, flavor, taste and texture, and customers connect with our brand because of our authentic and transparent approach to sustainable farming. We’re looking forward to giving our customers more choice and flavor options as we expand nationally,” he said.

Founded in 2004, AeroFarms has received several recognitions for being a change-the-word company and as an award-winning retail brand.

Its leafy greens can be found at major retailers such as Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, The Fresh Market and Walmart. AeroFarms said it has also developed multiyear strategic partnerships with collaborators ranging from government agencies to major Fortune 500 companies to solve agriculture supply chain needs.
