Bank of America holds $71.5 billion in deposits across 185 offices in New Jersey, making it the state’s top commercial bank.

With 216 branches, TD Bank ranked second with $58.1 billion in deposits. TD Bank relocated headquarters from Cherry Hill to Mount Laurel in September 2025. PNC Bank came in at No. 3 with $39.6 billion in deposits in 175 locations.

JPMorgan Chase & Co., with $38.2 billion in 186 offices, and Wells Fargo Bank, at $36.4 billion across 202 offices, round out the top five.

Among other prominent institutions, Valley National Bank, which was established in 1927, runs 127 offices from headquarters in Morristown and holds about $29.6 billion in deposits, good for sixth place. Citizens Bank operates 107 branches with $8.7 billion in deposits.

Several banks have announce mergers in recent months. ConnectOne Bancorp completed a combination with the parent corporation of First National Bank on June 1, 2025. The institution now operates 14 offices with nearly $7 billion in deposits.

OceanFirst Financial Corp. and Flushing Bank announced plans to merge Dec. 29, 2025. The parties anticipate closing in the second quarter of 2026. OceanFirst operates 35 branches with about $9.7 billion in deposits.

Fulton Financial Corp. and Blue Foundry Bancorp announced a merger Nov. 24, 2025. Fulton Bank will acquire Blue Foundry Bank in a transaction involving stock. The deal expects to close in the second quarter of 2026. Fulton Bank operates 59 offices with $7,511,898 thousand in deposits.
