Just two months after stepping into the interim position, Michelle Quinn has been named executive vice president and for medical tech company (Becton, Dickinson and Co.), effective April 1.

Formerly senior vice president, deputy general counsel, and chief ethics and compliance officer for the company, Quinn was named acting general counsel Feb. 3, succeeding Samrat “Sam” Khichi, who left the Franklin Lakes-based company “for a new opportunity.”

Quinn is responsible for leading BD’s Law Group and will continue to report to Chairman, CEO and President Tom Polen.

“Michelle exemplifies BD’s core value of doing what is right, and I look forward to her continued strategic guidance as our general counsel,” Polen said in a statement. “Michelle’s deep experience in leading legal functions in a variety of health care companies has and will continue to benefit BD, our associates, the patients we serve and our shareholders through her focus on advancing the company’s business strategies and governance initiatives.”

Before joining BD in 2019, Quinn was vice president and general counsel of North America for Sandoz Inc., a division of Novartis. She also served as vice president and associate general counsel at Catalent Pharma Solutions.

Quinn earned her Juris Doctor from Villanova University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Colgate University.

When Khichi stepped down earlier this year, BD announced several changes at the time to its reporting structure to bring “a closer alignment between Corporate Development and Corporate Strategy.” Ami Simunovich, executive vice president and chief regulatory officer, now reports to Polen, and the Public Affairs division reports to Simunovich. Also, Corporate Development now reports to Chris DelOrefice, executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Additionally, in August 2022, the company made another major announcement about its executive leadership team, naming Michael “Mike” Garrison as executive vice president and president of the Medical segment and Richard “Rick” Byrd as executive vice president and president of the Interventional segment.
