Biocon Biologics established its first North American headquarters right here in the great Garden State, selecting Bridgewater as the site.
The global biosimilars company announced the location this week. Its work is dedicated to using cutting-edge science to lower costs of biological therapeutics while improving health care outcomes for millions of patients globally.
Biocon Biologics boasts eight commercialized biosimilars in the country. It also has one of the largest pipelines in the industry. The company has 20 biosimilar assets across diabetology, oncology, immunology, ophthalmology and other non-communicable diseases.
The 9,624-square-foot headquarters is located at 685 Route 202/206 in Bridgewater at the Bedminster 78 Corp Center.
Company leaders say the new office will house both commercial and administrative functions for the organization. It will also position it for future growth in North America.
“We are excited to establish our first North America headquarters within the hub of the biopharma sector of New Jersey where we can leverage the strong life sciences ecosystem of innovation, talent, and excellent quality of life for our employees and be well-positioned for future growth,” said Josh Salsi, head of North America, Biocon Biologics, a subsidiary of parent company Biocon Ltd., which operates a manufacturing facility in Cranbury as well as an office in Iselin.
Avison Young Principal Drew Persson represented Biocon Biologics in the deal. Justin Gingeleskie, William O’Keefe and Charlie Parmellie of Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord, KRE Group.
“Critical to our success was collaborating closely with KRE with their pedigree and experience to fast-track the execution and delivery of the space for Biocon Biologics,” said Persson. “Our goal was to quickly find a space that aligned with Biocon Biologics’ expectation of amenities, quality ownership, and preferred geography – and begin operations right away.”
“Biocon Biologics is growing, and we needed to establish a North American headquarters that would sustain our future plans,” said Salsi. “Through a collaboration with Avison Young and KRE, we were able to find the right property to meet our current and future needs.”
