Breeze Airways announced May 2 it is expanding its presence at Atlantic City International Airport with four new nonstop routes. The move came the same day Spirit Airlines abruptly shut down operations and canceled all flights.
The timing positions Breeze as a key replacement for lost low-cost service at ACY. Spirit had been a dominant carrier at the airport, connecting the region to Florida and other leisure destinations.
Under the new announcement, Breeze will add nonstop flights from Atlantic City to Orlando, Fla. Service will begin July 3 with daily flights and introductory one-way fares starting at $89. Additional routes will roll out in the fall, including:
The expansion builds on Breeze’s previously announced launch at ACY, which also includes nonstop service to Charleston, S.C., starting May 6, and Raleigh-Durham, N.C., beginning June 11. The airline will also begin Tampa service starting in June and expand to nonstop flights in July.
Altogether, the additions more than double the number of destinations Breeze will serve from Atlantic City, significantly expanding travel options following Spirit’s exit.
Stephen Dougherty is executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority. He said he appreciates Breeze Airways for its investment and its introduction of new routes that maintain service to key destinations that serve the region. SJTA owns, operates and maintains ACY.
“The timely launch of this service reflects the strength of the market and helps ensure passengers continue to have access to convenient, affordable destinations,” Dougherty added.
Founded in 2021, Breeze focuses on connecting underserved markets with direct, low-cost flights using a fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The airline offers a hybrid model that blends budget fares with premium options such as free family seating, onboard Wi-Fi and flexible booking policies.
“We look forward to welcoming our first Guests from ACY onboard our flights to Charleston this week as we celebrate this exciting expansion to even more destinations,” said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO. “We appreciate our Guests and partners in the community for their warm welcome and can’t wait to bring our convenient, elevated service to America’s Playground.”
