Campbell Soup Co. has appointed Charles Brawley III as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Nov. 30, the Camden-based soup and snack company announced Nov. 8.
Brawley succeeds Adam Ciongoli, who came on board at Campbell in 2015 and is leaving to join Fox Corp. as chief legal and policy officer.
Brawley joined Campbell in 2016, most recently serving as senior vice president, corporate secretary and deputy general counsel, overseeing the company’s legal functions of corporate governance, securities law and commercial contracts. With his promotion, he will lead the company’s legal department, including government affairs, global security, and corporate responsibility and sustainability.
He will also become a member of the company’s operating committee and report to President and CEO Mark Clouse.
Clouse, who thanked Ciongoli for his contributions and wished him well in his new position, said Brawley “has played a crucial role in all aspects of Campbell’s strategy and business.”
“I’m pleased that our strong talent pipeline enables us to promote Charlie to step into this critical role and continue to build upon our momentum,” Clouse said in a statement.
Brawley, who began his legal career at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP in Philadelphia, previously worked for companies including Lincoln Financial Group, PMA Capital Corp. and Cigna Corp. He earned a bachelor’s economics from Saint Joseph’s University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania.
