Hospital leaders urge patients to get regular check-ups as a way of staying healthy. But in a connected world, how can those facilties check in on their own internal health? That’s where the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives comes in, functioning as a “Digital Health Check-Up” for health care organizations worldwide.
In 2022, 19 organizations from New Jersey were named as a Most Wired Hospital in the recently released CHIME Digital Health Most Wired Survey.
More than 38,000 organizations participated in the evaluation, which highlights Acute, Ambulatory and LTPAC (Long-Term and Post-Acute Care) organizations on three separate lists. The CHIME inquiry evaluates the adoption, integration and impact of technologies in health care organizations across all stages of development, from burgeoning to industry leading, ranking peers across categories including: analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure and patient engagement.
That includes Atlantic Health System, which says it has been recognized for four consecutive years in the assessment.

“Embracing digital transformation throughout Atlantic Health System includes seeking digital-first opportunities when delivering extraordinary care to our patients,” AHS Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Sunil Dadlani said of the recognition. “We strive to create an environment of convenience and value for the consumers and communities we serve.”
RWJBarnabas Health said all of its facilities were included in the 2022 CHIME results. “RWJBarnabas Health is committed to being at the forefront of adopting technologies and implementing clinical systems to improve the delivery of care to our patients and we are honored to be recognized for our continued efforts,” said that system’s executive vice president & chief information officer, Robert Adamson. “Improving the efficiency of care delivery through advances in technology and IT systems allows us to realize meaningful outcomes including increasing patient access to healthcare services, improving patient experience, and reducing costs across the entire system.”

Englewood Health appeared as a Most Wired Hospital for the ninth straight year, the Bergen County-based provider said, earning Level 9 and Level 10 distinctions for both acute and ambulatory care.
“We are proud of our solid technology foundation that advances digitally integrated care across our acute and ambulatory functions,” said Inderpal Kohli, vice president and chief information officer at Englewood Health. “This year’s CHIME survey—which highlights our marked improvements in the areas of patient engagement and innovation—is a testament to the role of technology as an enabler for a clinically integrated experience for both patients and clinicians.”
No organization from the Garden State was included on the 2022 LTPAC list; CHIME’s published most-wired rankings included Level 7 and above.
According to RWJBarnabas, Trinitas Regional Medical Center was awarded a Performance Excellence Level of 5 and the Children’s Specialized Hospital was recognized in the Long-term Care Category with a Performance Excellence Level of 6.
