Teaneck-based technology company Cognizant has entered into an agreement to acquire Thirdera, a ServiceNow partner based in Broomfield, Colo., that specializes in workflow solutions.
When the deal was announced Dec. 13, a representative for Cognizant told NJBIZ that the move is significant because it “furthers the efforts of Cognizant and ServiceNow’s strategic partnership (announced June 2023) to build a $1 billion combined business focused on AI-driven automation.”
Financial terms of the Thirdera acquisition were not disclosed. Cognizant said the deal is expected to close in January 2024, subject to satisfaction of closing conditions.
According to the announcement, the addition of Thirdera’s ServiceNow consultants in locations including North America, Spain, Colombia, the Netherlands and Australia will establish a combined Cognizant ServiceNow Business Group with more than 2,400 specialists and 14,000 certifications — creating one of the largest ServiceNow partners in the world.
“I believe the combination of Cognizant’s deep industry, AI, and platform expertise paired with Thirdera’s leading-edge offerings in enterprise transformation will position Cognizant at the forefront of thought leadership and innovation in the ServiceNow ecosystem,” Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S said in a statement.
ServiceNow is a software company that helps firms digitize and automate workflows. Its partners specialize in offering services related to the company’s platform, one ServiceNow expert explained.
Cognizant’s “plan to acquire Thirdera, the largest pure-play ServiceNow partner, will turbo-charge their ability to build GenAI industry leading solutions on the ServiceNow platform,” ServiceNow Chairman and CEO Bill McDermott said.
Jason Wojahn, Thirdera CEO and co-founder, called the acquisition “a pivotal moment.”
“We believe leveraging Cognizant’s scale, resources, and cross-industry expertise will help us revolutionize how our clients work in order to unleash productivity and drive innovation,” Wojahn added.
The move builds on Cognizant’s focus of helping clients harness the capabilities of artificial intelligence. Earlier this year, the firm unveiled its Cognizant Neuro AI platform to help companies “accelerate the adoption of generative AI technology and harness its business value in a flexible, secure, scalable and responsible way.”
