Law

Harvey C. Kaish has been named a partner at McCarter & English in Newark. Previously, he was an associate. Kaish received a law degree from Harvard Law School.

Mary W. Barrett has joined Stark & Stark in Princeton as an associate. Prior to this, Barrett was an associate at

McKay, Byrne & Grahm in Los Angeles. She received a JD from Southwestern University School of Law. In addition, Christopher J. Preate has joined as an associate. Previously, he was an associate with Levy & Preate in Scranton. Preate received a JD from the Widener School of Law in Harrisburg.

Health Care

Carlo Medici has been appointed corporate vice president and general manager for clinical services, North America, for Covance in Princeton. Previously, Medici was president of Roche Diagnostic Systems, a division of Hoffman-La Roche. He graduated from The Universita Degli Studi in Milan, Italy, with a degree in chemistry and pharmaceutical technology.

Chemicals

Detlef Rethage has been appointed general manager, operations, in the organic intermediate division of Creanova in Somerset. Prior to this, Rethage worked as project manager, corporate development, for the Hls Group in Marl, Germany. He received an advanced diploma in civil engineering from Essen University in Germany and an advanced diploma in industrial engineering from Bochum University in Germany.

Manufacturing

Lukas Gnthardt has been named senior vice president, strategic planning, product development and marketing, of K-Tron International in Pitman. Most recently, he was managing director and chief executive officer of K-Tron, Switzerland. Gnthardt holds an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition, James T. Foley has been appointed vice president and chief technical officer. Prior to this, Foley was vice president, research and development. He holds master”s degrees in computer software engineering and engineering management from Widener University.

Services

Thomas B. Upshur has been appointed senior director of radio frequency identification marketing and product management at Checkpoint Systems in Thorofare. Most recently, he was vice president-operations at Checkpoint Security Systems Group in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Upshur received an MBA from St. Joseph”s University and a bachelor”s degree in electrical engineering from Villanova University.

Amie Creinin has been named director of catering at the Brunswick Hilton and Towers in East Brunswick. She was previously assistant director of catering at the Atlanta Hilton and Towers. Creinin is a graduate in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University.

Dot Woods has been named vice president, marketing and advertising, at Columbia Savings Bank in Fair Lawn. Woods joined the bank in 1983, and was most recently director of marketing. She is a graduate of the School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado and the Dale Carnegie Institute.

Finance

Patricia Mentus has been promoted to assistant vice president at U.S. Trust Company of New Jersey in Princeton. She was previously associated with Delafield, Harvey, Tabell. Mentus received a bachelor”s degree in business administration from Rider University. Karen M. DeTrolio has been promoted to financial officer. Prior to this, DeTrolio was employed by Barco Systems in Belle Mead. She received a degree in information processing from the Katherine Gibbs School.

Transportation

Donald Galiano has been promoted to national account sales manager at Garden State Leasing & Rent-A-Car in North Arlington. Galiano joined the company in 1997. He is a graduate of Brooklyn College with a bachelor”s degree in business administration.

Marketing

Dreux Sawyer has been named art director, new media, at DKB & Partners in Morristown. Prior to this, Sawyer was a senior graphic designer for Matsushita Services. He holds a bachelor”s degree in fine arts/graphic design from Montclair State University.

Real Estate

John D. Ramous has been appointed investment officer of First Industrial Realty Trust”s New Jersey region in Livingston. Prior to this, he was a senior real estate manager with MBL Life Assurance. Ramous is a graduate of the University of Connecticut.

C. G. Paper, a shipping supplies distributor, has leased 107,081 square feet at Passaic Street in Garfield. Team Resources, Inc. represented the tenant. Vornado is the owner and was represented in-house.

Fast Corporation, a vending machine manufacturer, has leased 43,000 square feet at 341 Michele Place, Carlstadt. Team Resources, Inc. represented the tenant. SBWE represented the landlord, Gabrellian Associates.

Harley Davidson has leased 17,000 square feet at 124 Essex Street in Rochelle Park. Team Resources, Inc. represented the tenant. Jamie Weiss Realty represented the owner, Frapaul Construction.

ITT Fluid Technology, a pump manufacturer, has leased 27,000 square feet in the MountainView Executive Park at 10 Mountainview Road in Upper Saddle River. Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant. IB BREL/Koll Realty Advisor, the owner, was represented in-house.

MobileMedia Communications, a communications and paging company, has subleased 54,000 square feet at One Executive Drive in Fort Lee. Miller Freeman is the sublessor. Insignia/ESG represented both parties.

EDS, a check-processing division of Electronic Data Systems, has leased 40,000 square feet at 300 Boulevard East in Weehawken. Associated Realty represented the tenant. Newmark Partners represented the owner, Crown Properties.

CBM of America, a telecommunications company, has leased 7,778 square feet at 180 Campus Drive in Raritan Center. New Jersey Equity represented both the tenant and the owner, Federal Business Centers.

Dynamic Decisions, a computer manufacturer, has leased 33,802 square feet at 104 Sunfield Avenue in Raritan Center. New Jersey Equity represented both the tenant and the owner, Summit Associates.

State Farm Automobile Insurance has leased 9,900 square feet at 600 Corporate Court in South Plainfield. Associated Realty represented the tenant. National Realty & Development, the owner, was represented in-house.

United Delivery Systems, a distribution company, has leased 20,670 square feet at 25 Cotters Lane in East Brunswick. New Jersey Equity represented both the tenant and the owner, Frank A. Greek & Sons.
