Trader Joe’s headed to Parsippany (updated)

Trader Joe’s is coming to Parsippany.
Local media has reported that the nautically themed grocery chain expects to take space at Morris Hills Shopping Center on Route 46. The Brixmor-owned property recently received planning board approval to move forward with renovations of several empty storefronts and the parking lot.
While appearing before the board, the firm’s attorney told officials that a “well-known, upscale” grocer has committed to the site, Parsippany Daily reported.
A media representative for Trader Joe’s confirmed to NJBIZ the Parsippany opening but did not provide a location or timeline.
A representative for Brixmor said it “is committed to bringing best-in-class retailers that meet the needs of the Parsippany community. We look forward to sharing updates on the tenant lineup as they become available.”
This would mark the grocer’s third Morris County outpost. After opening a Denville location in 2019, Trader Joe’s followed it up a year later in Florham Park.
Trader Joe’s would also be the fifth major grocery store in Parsippany. The township is home to ShopRite, Whole Foods, Stop & Shop and Wegmans.
Founded in 1967, Trader Joe’s is known for its cheerful crew members, customer service and competitive pricing on a unique variety of seasonal and private-label food items. The California-based banner focuses on gourmet, organic and specialty goods, as well as frozen food products.
Across the U.S., Trader Joe’s has more than 630 stores. Following the launch of nearly 30 locations last year, the banner expects to keep the momentum going with the addition of at least a dozen sites nationwide in 2026.
Within New Jersey, Trader Joe’s currently has 20 stores. The chain expects future openings in Jersey City, West Orange and Montvale.
