Genmab is doubling down on the Garden State.

The global company specializes in antibody medicines. Locally, it recently marked the grand opening of its expanded U.S. site at the Princeton Forrestal Innovation Center.

The Plainsboro event included Genmab leadership, government officials, patient advocates and advisors, community leaders, academic partners, key stakeholders and others.

“This new site reflects Genmab’s strong commitment to New Jersey – not just as a place to grow our business, but as a hub of innovation, top talent, and collaboration,” said Chris Cozic, executive vice president and chief people officer, Genmab. “It brings together the people and purpose that drive our vision: to transform the lives of people with cancer and other serious diseases through innovative antibody medicines.”

Key details:

  • New facility located on a 125-acre innovation campus
  • Features state-of-the-art workspaces designed to foster cross-functional collaboration and attract top regional talent
  • Company continues remarkable local growth – from 150-plus employees in 2020 to more than 1,000 today
  • Genmab supports more than 30 nonprofits across the Garden State

Genmab is globally headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company says this local expansion reflects its transformation from a research-focused firm to a fully integrated biotech. The company’s work involves discovery, development and commercialization of its own medicines worldwide.

NJBIZ connected with Cozic following the ribbon cutting to learn more about the expansion and the company’s commitment to the great Garden State.

Regional recipe for success

Cozic told NJBIZ that New Jersey has been an essential part of Genmab’s growth in the U.S. for several years.

“The region offers access to top-tier talent, a robust life sciences ecosystem, and proximity to key partners, academic institutions, and health care systems,” Cozic told NJBIZ. “Our decision to expand here reflects a long-term commitment, not just to growing our footprint, but to contributing meaningfully to the local economy, scientific innovation and community.

This is not just about scale; it is about building a hub where people, purpose, and progress come together.

“This is not just about scale; it is about building a hub where people, purpose, and progress come together.”

Cozic noted that the site design focuses on bringing teams together across research and development, commercialization, data science as well as enabling functions.

“That cross-functional collaboration is essential as we evolve into a fully integrated biotech company,” said Cozic. “This expansion strengthens our ability to work more seamlessly, from early science through to delivering antibody medicines to patients. It is a space that reflects the future of our company and how we work together to achieve our vision.”

Looking ahead

Cozic remarked about that robust growth of its Jersey workforce over the last five years (see above). He also said Genmab expects that trajectory to continue.

“This expansion positions us to sustainably grow our workforce in a way that supports our pipeline, capabilities and long-term ambitions,” said Cozic. “The Princeton Forrestal Innovation Center gives the flexibility and infrastructure to support that growth while staying rooted in the vibrant talent and innovation ecosystem that New Jersey offers.”

Asked about this next chapter and phase of growth, Cozic said Genmab is incredibly excited.

“This is a pivotal moment for Genmab in the U.S.,” said Cozic. “It represents not just the next phase of our physical growth but a powerful statement about who we are becoming as a company.”

As the company moves toward its 2030 vision, it aspires to transform the lives of people with cancer and other serious diseases. Cozic said this new space will serves as a catalyst for innovation, collaboration and culture.

“It is where bold science meets bold ambition, and we could not be more energized about what is ahead,” he said.
