American Dream will soon house Asian supermarket chain H Mart’s largest food hall in the Northeast.
Scheduled to open Aug. 30 at the East Rutherford megamall, the 16,860-square-foot addition to the brand’s existing retail store will feature dining options from nearly a dozen Asian fast-casual favorites.
According to American Dream and H Mart, the space will feature:
Vendors will also include Art Box, a popular Korean brand known for its trendy and creative stationary, accessories and lifestyle products for all ages.
As part of the grand opening, H Mart will celebrate with giveaways of mugs and shopping bags, as well as traditional Asian performances, like Koran percussion music and Chinese lion dances. There will also be free face painting and free balloons for kids in court A, level 1, near H Mart all weekend long.
Founded 40 years ago in Queens, N.Y., H Mart sells Asian foods, housewares and essential items, along with a range of Western groceries, locally sourced produce, meat and seafood.
It has since grown from one store to nearly 100 locations across the United States. Locally, H Mart is in Little Ferry, Paramus, Cherry Hill, Edison, Fort Lee, Leonia and Ridgefield. The chain joined the lineup at American Dream in February 2023.
H Mart President Stacey Kwon said the company is thrilled to bring its food hall experience to the Meadowlands.
“Our food halls are iconic staples of H Mart stores, and our American Dream location wouldn’t feel complete without one. The addition of another food hall will further enhance the world class, one of a kind guest experience that is H Mart at American Dream,” Kwon said.
Bryan Gaus, senior vice president and general manager of American Dream, added, “We are beyond excited for the arrival of H Mart’s Food Hall, boasting a diverse array of tantalizing cuisines.”
With more than 50 other food options from cuisines around the world, like Italian, Peruvian and Chinese, Gaus believes the upcoming H Mart opening helps the mall “solidify itself as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.”
H Mart is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
