is going north — both a little north and way, way north.

The Point Pleasant sub sandwich chain will open its first Vermont location this summer and its first Alaska location by early next year.

The Vermont store will be located at 69 Market St. in Williston, a suburb of Vermont’s biggest city, Burlington. Details on the Alaska location weren’t readily available, but it could be open as soon as the end of 2022.

Jersey Mike’s has grown from a single location that opened in 1956, then known as Mike’s Subs, to more than 2,000 locations nationwide with nearly 300 opening soon. In 1971, then-17-year-old employee Peter Cancro borrowed $125,000 from his football coach to purchase Mike’s and turned it into the thriving chain it is today. Cancro remains CEO.
