Merck and Veeva Systems extended their current 12-year partnership with a new, 10-year strategic agreement, the companies announced Nov. 1.
As part of the arrangement, when selecting software, the Kenilworth-headquartered pharmaceutical company will opt for Veeva’s cloud-based platform and products first, when applicable, in exchange for a strategic pricing agreement. Additional financial terms were not disclosed.
“Transforming our digital, data, and analytics capabilities is integral to enabling our global colleagues to deliver on our purpose of using the power of leading-edge science to save and improve lives around the world,” Merck President and CEO Robert Davis said in a statement.
Davis said the partnership with Barcelona-based Veeva expands Merck’s “capacity to leverage innovative technology,” and, in turn, better serve patients and stakeholders.
Veeva CEO Peter Gassner added, “I am excited to see our partnership with Merck evolve to this strategic level … I look forward to seeing what we create together over the coming years.”
Veeva serves more than 1,000 customers in the life sciences field with industry-specific software and data.
