The New Jersey Imaging Network invited some star power to help open its advanced diagnostic facility in Newark.
On March 13, NJIM hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour to unveil the new center. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka along with WNBA champion and three-time Olympic gold medalist Sheryl Swoopes joined the festivities.
The new imaging center is located at 609 Broad St. in the historic Hahne building. The office features state-of-the-art equipment including:
Newark First Lady Linda Baraka; NJIN leadership; radiologists Dr. Ross Mondshine and Dr. Brett Ferdinand; joined Baraka and Swoopes, as well as executives from diagnostic imagery firm RadNet.
NJIN is a joint venture formed in 2012 between RWJBarnabas Health and RadNet Inc. Swoopes first teamed up with RadNet in April 2024 as a spokesperson for its nationwide cancer screening programs.
According to NJIN, the new facility “represents a significant investment in Newark’s healthcare infrastructure, bringing advanced diagnostic services … to a market that has been historically underserved.”
NJIN noted the opening comes as state lawmakers advance legislation (Assembly Bill 3128 and Senate Bill 1244) that would require health insurance coverage of diagnostic and supplemental breast examinations without cost-sharing.
NJIN offers services at more than 30 locations in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Union, Camden, Gloucester and Ocean counties.
