Congratulations to the Class of 2026. Check out scenes from commencement ceremonies at Kean University, New Jersey City University, Berkeley College, Stevens Institute of Technology, Brookdale Community College, Rutgers University–Newark, Seton Hall University and Stockton University.

  • Kean University celebrated the Class of 2026 May 20 during its annual commencement ceremony at the Prudential Center in Newark. Nearly 3,600 undergraduate and graduate students earned degrees from Kean this year. • New Jersey City University awarded 1,551 degrees during its historic 2026 Commencement exercises May 19 at the Prudential Center in Newark. The ceremony marked the university's final standalone commencement ceremony before its merger with Kean University closes July 1 to form Kean Jersey City. NJCU President Andrés Acebo presided over his fourth commencement ceremony. In total, NJCU conferred 1,191 undergraduate, 340 graduate and 20 doctoral degrees during the ceremony. According to the school, 339 undergraduate students – nearly 1 in 3 – crossed the stage with honors: 139 Cum Laude, 93 Magna Cum Laude and 107 Summa Cum Laude. - PROVIDED BY NEW JERSEY CITY UNIVERSITY
  • Berkeley College celebrated more than 1,300 graduates during its 2026 Commencement ceremony May 13 at Prudential Center in Newark. The graduating class included 86 military and veteran graduates and 319 international students from 34 countries. The average age of graduates completing an undergraduate degree or certificate was 31.5. Here, Sky Scraper, New York City FC’s official mascot, takes the stage during the event. Berkeley College is the Official Higher Education Partner: Undergraduate and Graduate Services of New York City FC, collaborating on education and career development initiatives. - PROVIDED BY BERKELEY COLLEGE
  • Speaking to the Class of 2026 at the Stevens undergraduate Commencement ceremony at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel May 20, Adam Savage, American special effects designer, and co-host of the hit series “MythBusters,” emphasized the importance of collaboration across a successful career. Stevens noted Savage’s remarks emphasize how collaboration and human connection is paramount to discovery, growth and success — particularly amid the rise of AI. This year’s commencement marks the largest undergraduate class in the university's history, with over 1,100 students. - PROVIDED BY STEVENS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
  • Brookdale Community College recognized 1,566 students for earning degrees as the Class of 2026. Among them, 46 students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA. In fact, the group distinguished itself across multiple areas of achievement, earning 258 academic honors and recognition through prestigious honor societies, including Phi Theta Kappa and the National Society of Leadership and Success, BCC said. Among the graduates were 22 veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and National Guard, as well as a significant number of first-generation college students. - PROVIDED BY BROOKDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
  • Rutgers University–Newark held its 80th commencement ceremony May 21, with 2,849 students receiving degrees, along with advice from keynote speaker Jonathan Capehart, a Newark native, Pulitzer Prize winner, and co-anchor of MS NOW's “The Weekend”. Held at the Prudential Center in Newark, the event marked the first commencement ceremony for Chancellor Tonya Smith-Jackson, who stepped into her role in August. Smith-Jackson is presiding over a year-long celebration of Rutgers University’s 1946 merger with the University of Newark, which established Rutgers-Newark. - PROVIDED BY RUTGERS-NEWARK
  • Seton Hall University celebrated its 170th Baccalaureate Commencement May 18 at the Prudential Center in Newark with the keynote delivered by best-selling author Arthur Brooks, professor at the Harvard Kennedy School and the Harvard Business School. SHU conferred baccalaureate degrees on 1,451 students, including 770 graduating with honors. An additional 874 students earned master’s and doctoral degrees this commencement season, bringing the total number of graduates to 2,325. - PROVIDED BY SETON HALL UNIVERSITY
  • Stockton University celebrated the Class of 2026 May 15 for the determination, leadership and community spirit that defined its path to graduation, according to the institution. Stockton hosted two ceremonies at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall for the more than 2,300 graduates earning bachelor’s degrees. During the festivities, keynote speaker Roxanne Passarella ’00 shared her story of humble beginnings as a first-generation college graduate to becoming President and CEO, Business Administration and Operations at Club Boardwalk Resorts, which includes two hotel resorts in Atlantic City and one in Brigantine. - PROVIDED BY STOCKTON UNIVERSITY
