  • PSE&G partnered with first responders in Montclair May 6 to conduct a safety exercise that simulated a gas emergency. The four-hour exercise allowed PSE&G and local safety professionals to practice keeping the public safe in the event of a damaged underground gas line. The first such event of the year for PSE&G, the procedure took place near the Essex Pool and Ice Rink parking lots.<br />

  • Seton Hall University Seton Hall Law named RWJBarnabas Health President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Manigan, pictured here, the recipient of its Distinguished Graduate Award. The honor was officially bestowed at Seton Hall Law’s Annual Alumni Gala May 3 at the Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains. “Mark is a renowned New Jersey leader in health care and has made Seton Hall Law proud with his commitment to build healthier communities throughout the state,” said Seton Hall Law Dean John Kip Cornwell.<br />

  • The Cooper Foundation recently announced the recipients of the inaugural Linda Brand Scholarship, a testament to the enduring legacy of a beloved leader and colleague. The scholarship was established by Linda Brand, assistant vice president for patient access and financial navigation at Cooper University Health Care, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in October 2023. The Foundation awarded educational scholarships totaling $23,000 to nine outstanding Cooper team members, eight are pictured here. The recipients, selected from a pool of 85 applicants, demonstrated remarkable ambition and dedication to furthering the Cooper mission.<br />

  • Professional services company and generative AI leader Cognizant (Nasdaq: CTSH) visited the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square May 6 to celebrate its fourth anniversary sponsoring the LPGA Tour’s Cognizant Founders Cup, showcasing the parallels between sports and technology and increasing diversity and inclusion in both arenas. In honor of the occasion, Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S rang the opening bell, along with members of Cognizant’s leadership team, local associates, LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan, World Golf and LPGA Hall of Fame golfer Nancy Lopez, current LPGA Tour professionals In Gee Chun and Megan Khang, as well as members of the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf of Jersey Shore chapter.<br />

  • Earlier in May, Library Journal named Hoboken Public Library Director Jennie Pu as a recipient of its 2024 Movers & Shakers, a cohort of advocates, community builders, change agents, innovators, educators and ban battlers from across the library field. This national honor is given to just 50 individuals each year; Pu, who appeared on LJ's cover, is the sole recipient representing a New Jersey library.<br />
