Provident Bank appointed as executive vice president and , effective July 1.

In the June 23 announcement, the Iselin-based financial institution said Duarte will serve in the positions for and holding company Inc.

He succeeds Thomas Lyons, who retired after more than two decades with Provident. Lyons announced plans to retire in January.

Meet the new

Duarte brings more than 30 years of and financial services experience to the new position.

The financial executive joined Provident in 2020 through the acquisition of SB One Bank. He most recently served as executive vice president and chief accounting officer.

In his new role, Duarte will lead all financial aspects of the organization, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, investor relations, corporate strategy, financial reporting, tax, facilities and financial risk management.

Duarte will report to Provident President and CEO Anthony Labozzetta. He will also serve as a member of the bank’s executive leadership team as well as a key advisor to the board of directors.

“Adriano is a highly respected and trusted leader whose deep financial expertise, strategic perspective, and collaborative leadership style have made a significant impact across our organization,” Labozzetta said in a statement.

Duarte added that he looks forward to “continuing to work alongside our talented teams across the organization to support our strategic priorities, deliver long-term value for our shareholders, and help our customers and communities succeed.”

Duarte  is aCertified Public Accountant. He earned a bachelor’s in accounting and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Rutgers University.

Provident’s new follows other key hires this year, including:

  • Annamaria Vitelli as executive vice president, chief wealth officer for Provident, as well as president of Morristown-based Beacon Trust.
  • Michael Perito as head of investor relations
