Somerset County Makers & Creators Tour stop gears up students (photos)

The latest stop on the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program‘s Makers & Creators Tour exposed Somerset County students to opportunities in the sector.

Approximately 300 students took part in the Feb. 28 event at Hillsborough High School in Hillsborough Township along with New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, New Jersey Economic Development Authority and Hillsborough Township Public Schools.

Kicked off in 2023, the Makers & Creators Tour exposes high school students to advanced manufacturing with hands-on experiences to training technology. It also introduces the future workforce to local manufacturers and the opportunity to learn about industry career opportunities.

Participants in the Somerset County event included:

  • L&Z Tool & Engineering, Watchung (Somerset County)
  • Hercules Chassis, Hillsborough (Somerset County)
  • Bihler of America, Phillipsburg (Warren County)
  • Maple Wood Shop, East Orange-based educational institution that has partnerships with Somerset County schools/organizations
  • Raritan Valley Community College Workforce Training Center

  • Participating students were able to experience advanced manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing, robotic arms, HAAS PLC powered Desktop Computerized Numerical Control mills, augmented reality welding equipment and more. <br />
