After canceling the grand opening of its flagship pop-up in South Jersey last year, Spirit Halloween is bringing back the celebration for 2026.
The Egg Harbor Township-based specialty retailer recently announced the popular event will take place Aug. 1 at its upcoming seasonal storefront at Harbor Square Plaza.
Each year, Spirit Halloween kicks off spooky season with the early August launch of the Egg Harbor Township store. Thousands of attendees typically show up to get a first look at new merchandise, as well as a chance to immerse themselves in the many interactive retail displays.
Citing “international disruptions and supply chain challenges,” the chain axed the event last year but promised to make it happen for 2026.
The cancellation came amid broader industry concerns that such uncertainties could limit available inventory and dampen Halloween spending. Spirit Halloween’s nationwide rollout of 1,500-plus stores suggests the retailer was able to navigate those challenges without a significant impact on consumer demand.
As the nation’s largest Halloween retailer, the Spencer Spirit Holdings Inc.-owned brand is considered the go-to place to buy costumes, decorations, props and accessories.
With a record-breaking 1,575 pop-ups scheduled to open soon across the U.S. and Canada, the company recently kicked off a recruitment campaign to fill 52,000 jobs.
