Stevens & Lee is strengthening its bankruptcy and financial restructuring department with the addition of five lawyers from Genova Burns LLC.
In a June 22 press release, the full-service law firm announced the arrival of:
The new additions will work out of a newly established office in Basking Ridge. The site at 110 Allen Road is the firm’s fourth location in New Jersey and 19th overall.
The Basking Ridge team also includes a paralegal and two staff members, Stevens & Lee said.
According to the firm, the five-lawyer team has background representing debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, trustees and asset purchasers in Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 proceedings in courts throughout New Jersey, New York and the broader Mid-Atlantic region.
Their experience also includes out-of-court workouts, assignments for the benefit of creditors, distressed asset acquisitions and bankruptcy litigation, the press release said.

In a statement, Stevens & Lee President and CEO William Thornton Jr. said, “This is a significant moment for our bankruptcy and re-structuring practice. The experience of these accomplished attorneys across debtor and creditor representations, complex Chapter 11 proceedings and out-of-court restructurings will serve our clients extraordinarily well.”
“This expansion also underscores our commitment to continued growth in New Jersey and to strengthening our ability to serve clients facing complex issues,” he went on.
Among the 200 largest law firms in the U.S., Stevens & Lee has more than 230 lawyers across its 19 offices.
The bankruptcy group expansion is part of the firm’s continuing strategy of focused growth in key markets. That effort has included building out practices that are critical to serving clients, Stevens & Lee said.
Within the past year in New Jersey, Stevens & Lee has added M&A, litigation and real estate expertise at its new Chatham office. It also strengthened its capabilities at existing locations in Elmwood Park and Princeton.
Stolz shared, “Stevens & Lee’s ability to comprehensively serve business clients was the primary driver in our move. They have grown significantly over the last four years and are committed to providing superior client service across their Platform. We believe they are well-positioned for continued growth in the New Jersey market, and we’re pleased to be a part of it.”
