The joint Summit Health-CityMD team opened a new multispecialty and urgent care center in Short Hills, the health care providers announced Dec. 1.

Located at 800 Morris Turnpike, the center offers CityMD walk-in urgent care services as well as 11 Summit Health providers specializing in dermatology, physical therapy and primary care.

The center’s urgent care services include treatment for injuries and illnesses, vaccinations, testing, X-rays, pediatric care and more.

The new location features more than 13,000 square feet of office space, including 10 dermatology and eight primary care patient rooms as well as three phlebotomy stations and a physical therapy training area.

Dr. Jack Cappitelli, Summit Health’s chief medical officer, New Jersey region, said the new office will primarily serve Short Hills, Millburn and neighboring communities.

“We believe health care remains a deeply local practice and remain committed to delivering quality care locally in neighborhoods across the region,” Cappitelli added.

Like all CityMD urgent care centers, the Short Hills location will operate as a walk-in urgent care 365 days a year. Summit Health offices will see patients by appointment.

The opening comes about one month after VillageMD announced it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Berkeley Heights-based Summit Health-CityMD for approximately $8.9 billion.

Together, Summit Health and CityMD have more than 2,800 providers across more than 370 locations in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Central Oregon.
