Target and Starbucks are teaming up to offer shoppers in New Jersey the option of getting their coffee delivered alongside their groceries and household essentials via the retailer’s free curbside pick-up service.
After launching earlier this month, Starbucks with Drive Up is available at 240 Target locations nationwide at select stores in California, Delaware, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington and West Virginia.
In a Nov. 23 press release announcing the rollout, the Minneapolis-based retailer said it developed the functionality in late 2021 after “guests overwhelmingly requested the feature” and then piloted the service this past summer.

After placing a Drive Up order at a participating Target and receiving notification that it’s ready, customers will get a prompt to place an order from the Starbucks Café menu, the retailer said.
Using the Target app, shoppers can add a Starbucks drink or menu item to a Drive Up order and notify the retailer when they’re on their way and have arrived, during which time a Starbucks barista will prepare the order and a Target employee will drop it off.
In New Jersey, the Target stores at Rockaway, Hackettstown and Phillipsburg will offer Starbucks with Drive Up, a spokesperson told NJBIZ.
Target – whose partnership with Starbucks spans 20 years and 1,700 stores – announced the pilot program’s launch earlier this year, saying the ability to order curbside coffee was one of the biggest requests made by shoppers.
“Our guests continue to tell us they love the ease and convenience of Drive Up, and have been asking us to add even more of the Target experience to the service. Adding Starbucks ordering and easy returns, while expanding our backup item options, will give guests even more of what they love about shopping at Target, quickly and easily,” said Mark Schindele, Target’s chief stores officer. “Ongoing investments in our same-day services have built trust and relevance with our guests, while meeting their needs — no matter how they choose to shop.”
