A Target store in New Jersey will be among the first in the U.S. to debut a new shop-in-shop concept from eyeglass retailer Warby Parker.
According to the Minneapolis-based big box chain, its Brick outpost will join Willowbrook, Ill.; Columbus, Ohio; Bloomington, Minn.; and Exton, Pa., as locations where the space will open later this year.
Staffed by Warby Parker employees, each shop-in-shop will feature glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, eye exams and vision tests, Target said. Prices will start at $95, including prescription lenses.
After the first location opens, Warby Parker at Target will be discoverable on Target.com, Target said.
Founded in 2010, New York City-headquartered Warby Parker is known for its designer-quality, affordable eyewear. After starting out as an online-only venture, the brand opened its first brick-and-mortar location three years later.
Now, it has more 275 stores across the U.S. – including 13 in New Jersey:
Target noted that the new partnership “complements” its growing optical business. Target Optical provides a range of products and services at more than 500 stores in the U.S.
Additional Warby Parker eyewear shops are slated to open at more Target stores without existing optical offerings in the years ahead, according to the company.
Target is no stranger when it comes to housing other retail brands. Its other store-within-a-store arrangements include Apple, Disney, Ulta Beauty and Levi’s.
Christina Hennington, executive vice president and chief strategy and growth officer at Target, commented on the latest rollout. “We’ve long offered our guests well-designed products at a value, and our latest shop-in-shop partnership with Warby Parker continues that tradition.
“Warby Parker at Target reflects both brands’ commitment to style, affordability, quality and convenience. As we test and learn with this new partnership — bringing Warby Parker’s expertise into select stores — we’re enticing new consumers to discover more of Target,” she said.
“From day one, Warby Parker’s mission has been to provide vision for all,” said Dave Gilboa, co-founder and co-CEO of Warby Parker. “A big part of that commitment means meeting eyewear consumers where and how they want to shop — and for many of our customers, that means shopping at Target. We’re excited to explore an entirely new retail format that brings our holistic vision care offerings — from prescription glasses and contacts to eye exams — to more people around the country.”
