TD Bank turned to its internal team for a new head of U.S. Consumer Banking, the Cherry Hill-based financial institution announced April 16.
Matthew Boss has served as TD’s head of Consumer Product Management in the U.S. since 2020. Now responsible for the company’s more than 1,100 store locations, contact centers, digital sales and capabilities, retail operations, U.S. Wealth, and TD Auto Finance.
Boss will continue to oversee all consumer product teams, including deposit products, credit cards and unsecured lending and residential lending, according to TD.
A company spokesperson told NJBIZ that the Consumer Banking division was divided into two groups in 2017, Consumer Distribution and Consumer Product. Now, the units have been reunited, with Boss at the helm.
Describing Boss as “a strong, forward-thinking leader,” TD President and CEO Leo Salom said in a statement, “His customer-centric approach, ability to drive best-in-class products and services from development to delivery, and deep commitment to fortifying our governance risk and controls will serve him well in his new role and position TD Bank for continued success here in the U.S.”
A 25-year banking industry veteran, Boss joined TD Bank in 2017 after more than four years with Melbourne-based Australia & New Zealand Banking Group. There, he served as managing director of products and marketing. Before ANZ, he held multiple senior vice president roles with Bank of America for nearly 10 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

TD credits Boss with helping the bank scale its deposit business while overhauling its overdraft policy, transform the cards franchise, and optimize its mortgage operations. Boss also oversees TD’s diversity and inclusion strategy as chair of the Diversity Leadership Team.
“I’m excited about the path ahead for TD and the U.S. Consumer Bank,” Boss said. “We’ve built a strong franchise over the past few decades and have recently introduced a number of product innovations and capability enhancements, but we have so much more to do.
“It’s as important as ever that we continue to evolve our strategic approach to the business to ensure we’re well-positioned to provide even more value to our customers and communities in the years to come,” he continued.
Boss earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst.
