Wakefern supermarkets plan Oct. 18 walk-up job fair

Wakefern Food Corp. is dialing up efforts at its across the Northeast.

During a walk-up job fair scheduled for Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., interested candidates can visit most participating ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage or Fairway Market stores for an on-the-spot interview.

In an Oct. 18 press release announcing the event, the Keasbey-based retailer-owned grocery cooperative said full-time, part-time and management positions are available, depending on location. No advance registration is required, Wakefern said.

Openings – which include jobs in general, perishable, front end and stocking – offer flexible hours and entertainment as well as tuition discounts, according to Wakefern. The company said it also provides cross training to equip employees with the skills needed to work as a team throughout the store.

A spokesperson for Wakefern said the co-op’s member companies are trying to fill “hundreds” of positions.

Wakefern’s footprint spans New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
