Wakefern Food Corp. is kicking off a hiring push at its supermarkets across the Northeast.
The co-op will host a walk-up job fair Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Interested candidates can visit most participating ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage or Fairway Market stores for an on-the-spot interview.
In a Jan. 20 press release announcing the event, the Keasbey-based retailer-owned grocery cooperative said full-time, part-time and management positions are available, depending on the location.
Wakefern’s footprint spans New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

All roles offer competitive benefits, Wakefern said. Most positions include on-the-job training, flexible scheduling and access to a unique game-based learning platform designed to help associates build skills and advance their careers.
In addition to professional development opportunities, team members may be eligible for tuition and entertainment discounts, scholarship programs and the chance to contribute to community initiatives, including hunger relief and sustainability efforts.
A spokesperson for Wakefern said the co-op’s member companies are trying to fill “hundreds” of positions. Job seekers can get more information about career opportunities by checking with their local stores, Wakefern said.
In the event of inclement weather, the job fair will be held Feb. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the co-op.
