Iselin-based World Insurance Associates expanded its reach in Rhode Island with the acquisition of Howard Russell Insurance of East Greenwich on June 1, the company announced Aug. 19. 

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. To date, WIA said it has made 155 acquisitions since its establishment in 2011. 

Founded in 1956 by Howard Russell Jr., and his wife, Bess, the full-service insurance agency target is now owned and operated by daughters Sally Russell and Heidi Russell Duggan. It serves clients in Rhode Island and around southern New England. 

“Our team of professionals offer unparalleled customer support and expert advice,” Duggan said in a statement, a sentiment echoed by sister Sally Russell. “We are excited to continue this commitment to our clients as part of World.” 

Rich Eknoian, CEO and co-founder of WIA, commended Howard Russell on its “strong commitment to their clients and excellent customer service.” 

Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla provided legal counsel to WIA, and Kiernan, Plunkett & Redihan LLP provided legal counsel to Howard Russell. 

The fast-growing agency recently announced several acquisitions, including two more on June 1, Allan M. Walker Insurance Agency of Taunton, Mass., and the Gerard P. Smith Insurance Agency, based in Webster, N.Y. 

And earlier this month, WIA announced a deal right in its home state for Coverage Specialists Inc. of Pompton Plains.
