World Market ready to launch new Bergen County store (photos)

World Market, a chain that offers home goods, crafts and , is making its Bergen County debut.

Located at Bergen Town Center in Paramus, the 14,809-square-foot store plans to begin welcoming shoppers May 1.

After a 9:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, will keep the celebration going with food tastings and giveaways throughout the day. The outpost will also offer special promotions and family-friendly activities May 2-3.

Founded 67 years ago near San Francisco’s famed Fisherman’s Wharf, the chain is known for selling , , housewares, , jewelry and accessories as well as gourmet food and beverages at affordable prices. According to World Market, it imports items from more than 50 countries, and most are unique and exclusive to its stores.

World Market’s footprint of 246 locations nationwide includes three stores in New Jersey – Livingston, Shrewsbury and Woodland Park.

At -owned Bergen Town Center, World Market is taking over a ground-level space previously occupied by Neiman Marcus Last Call.

Commenting on the launch, World Market’s CEO Eric Hunter said, “This location is perfect for connecting with both our loyal customers and new shoppers. We’re excited to offer the Paramus community a vibrant shopping experience with a diverse range of stylish furniture, home décor, unique gifts and an extensive selection of international foods and treats.”

Following its grand opening, the store will be open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
