Zoetis to acquire Neogen animal genomics business for $160M

Zoetis Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire ‘s business for $160 million. The animal health company announced the deal March 2. 

The move will advance portfolio. It also aligns with the company’s strategy to drive . 

Zoetis expects to complete the acquisition in the second half of 2026, following customary closing conditions and regulatory requirements. 

A leader in U.S. beef and dairy genomics, Neogen’s business enables accurate, scalable and insights into animal health, productivity and sustainability. 

The division serves customers in more than 120 countries through five laboratories in the U.S., Brazil, Australia, China and the U.K., as well as an office in Canada. Noegen is headquartered in Lansing, Mich.

Commitment to animal health

“The addition of Neogen’s genomics business strengthens our commitment to advancing animal health through innovation, data, and technology,” Jamie Brannan, Zoetis’ chief commercial officer, said in a statement. 

“Together, we are shaping the future of animal health, empowering customers with the tools they need to support healthier animals and sustainable livestock production globally,” Brannan added. 

The acquisition announcement also said Zoetis was “committed to a seamless integration, supporting continuity for colleagues and customers.” 

A 2025 NJBIZ Power Business honoree, Zoetis ranked No. 217 on Newsweek’s 2026 America’s Most Responsible Companies list. It also landed at No. 460 on Forbes’ most recent America’s Best Companies ranking.
