Amazon Fresh will open its second New Jersey grocery store on Route 35 in Eatontown, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed June 16.
The store will feature Amazon’s Just Walk Out frictionless payment system, where customers scan the Just Walk Out app upon entering the store and go about their business picking up items, putting them in a basket or in bags, and replacing whatever they don’t want. Then, they just walk out when they’re finished without needing to check out thanks to computer vision, sensors and artificial intelligence.
Alternatively, customers can choose the more traditional route and go through a checkout line.
The state’s first Amazon Fresh store will soon open in Paramus, according to an announcement from May 24. Opening dates for both stores have yet to be announced.
Various news outlets have reported that Amazon is also opening an Amazon Fresh in Holmdel. An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment on those reports.
