Atlantic Health announced updates to its senior leadership team that will advance two women among the executive ranks at CentraState and Overlook medical centers.
Senior Vice President Maureen Schneider will transition from president of Atlantic Health Chilton Medical center to serve as interim president and CEO at Atlantic Health CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. Meanwhile, Senior Vice President and Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center President Stephanie Schwartz will take on additional responsibilities as interim leader to fill the gap at Chilton in Pompton Plains.
Established in 1971, the 284-bed acute care facility sealed its partnership with Atlantic Health in 2022.
Atlantic Health said Tom Scott’s resignation prompted the appointments. The former CentraState president and CEO announced his plans to vacate the position in February. At the time, Patch reported Scott said he will “pursue other endeavors.” The outlet also said he planned to stay on board until this month to aid the transition.
A longtime team member, Scott assumed the leadership roles at CentraState in March 2022. He joined the facility in 2015 from Chilton Medical Center.
Schneider has served as a member of the CentraState Healthcare System Board of Trustees since 2022, according to Atlantic Health. The system said she will now focus her time at the Monmouth County location to ensure continued leadership stability. She joined Atlantic Health in 2014 as chief nurse and operations officer at Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center. She took on the role of president there in 2022.
Since taking the helm, Atlantic Health noted Schneider has guided Chilton to numerous clinical care and quality achievements. Schneider also teaches nursing doctoral and graduate leadership/management studies at Seton Hall University.
Schwartz assumed the role of president at Overlook Medical Center in Summit 2021, Atlantic Health said. The appointment followed a “successful tenure” in that same position at Chilton Medical Center.
“Maureen Schneider brings to Atlantic Health CentraState not only the passion and vision she has exemplified since joining Atlantic Health but valued institutional knowledge about this distinctive community hospital,” said Saad Ehtisham, president and CEO, Atlantic Health. “Similarly, Stephanie Schwartz … is experiencing a homecoming as she deftly plays double duty.”
Among its extensive footprint, Atlantic Health has eight hospitals in New Jersey, also including Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center in Newton, Atlantic Health Hackettstown Medical Center in Hackettstown, Atlantic Health Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown and Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute in Madison.
Last week, Atlantic Health revealed a partnership with fast-growing Garner Health Technology Inc.
