Popular Mexican fusion chain Bubbakoo’s Burritos is teaming up with Rutgers Athletics to launch its first major gameday promotion.
Under the newly announced partnership, the Point Pleasant-based fast casual restaurant will give fans a $3 discount on entrees at its New Jersey and New York locations for any game that the Scarlet Knights win.
The exclusive offer kicked off during Rutgers’ first home football game Sept. 3 and will continue through the men’s basketball season, according to Bubbakoo’s.
The tie-up also includes LED signage at SHI Stadium and inside Jersey Mike’s Arena, as well as promotion through digital and radio assets.
Additionally, Bubbakoo’s will collaborate with Eric LeGrand, a former Rutgers football player who became an author, entrepreneur, sports analysts and advocate for paralyzed individuals after suffering an injury during a 2010 game that left him paralyzed from the neck down.
As a brand ambassador, LeGrand will host several on-site events throughout the year, according to Bubbakoo’s and Rutgers.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to partner with a great New Jersey brand in Bubbakoo’s Burritos, and an incredible advocate in Eric LeGrand,” said Lisa Tirrell, associate athletic director, brand marketing and business development at Rutgers University. “We look forward to working with Bubbakoo’s Burritos to bring our fans an exciting game day experience.”
Founded 15 years ago by food industry veterans Paul Altero and Bilk Hart, the chain is known for its burritos, tacos, quesadillas and bowls that are fresh, made-to-order and affordable in a lively skater-surfer atmosphere. The brand has since expanded to 100 locations across 16 states to become one of the fastest-growing franchises in the country.
Altero stated, “We are honored to embark on this exciting journey alongside Rutgers University and Eric. This partnership represents the fusion of our shared values, including a passion for excellence and an unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.”
“Just as a great meal has the power to bring people together, so does the spirit of sportsmanship and gameday excitement. We look forward to the traction this collaboration will bring, as it is a testament to what unfolds when exceptional food and thrilling sports unite,” he said.
