Chipotle Mexican Grill added its first restaurant in Warren County just in time for Cinco de Mayo.
Located at 1341 Route 22 in Phillipsburg, the new 2,335-square-foot outpost features the fast casual chain’s signature “Chipotlane,” a drive-thru lane that lets customers retrieve digital orders without leaving their cars.
Following its April 30 grand opening, Chipotle will be open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Founded in 1993, Chipotle is known for its high-quality, customizable burritos, tacos, salads and bowls. The brand’s nationwide footprint of 3,400 restaurants includes more than 90 locations in New Jersey.
Since debuting Chipotlanes at some restaurants in 2018, the chain now has the offering at over 800 stores and counting across the U.S. Besides Phillipsburg, the feature is available at 21 other Chipotles in New Jersey, such as North Brunswick, Burlington, Paramus, Toms River, Forked River, Manahawkin, Edison, Shrewsbury, Watchung and East Windsor.
The new location joins a retail lineup in the township’s highway business zone that includes Aldi, Raymour & Flanigan, Walmart, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Applebee’s Grill & Bar, Target, Home Depot, Old Navy, IHOP, ShopRite and McDonald’s.
Hiring efforts are also underway for the restaurant, according to Chipotle.
Benefits include a crew bonus with the opportunity to earn an extra month’s worth of pay each year, a debt-free college program, English as a second language program and access to mental health care resources for employees and their families.
