Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is preparing to add a seventh restaurant in New Jersey.

Scheduled to open at Marketplace in Freehold, the location marks the second launched by local franchisee Peter Labib.

As part of a development deal with Freddy’s, Labib plans to add four restaurants in . His first opened last fall on Route 35 in Holmdel.

A spokesperson for the brand told NJBIZ, “We’re currently in the early stages of development in Freehold near West Main Street in front of Walmart, and we hope to start construction in the coming months to open by summer.”

Founded 24 years ago in Wichita, Kan., the retro-themed quick-service chain is known for its signature cooked-to-order steakburgers, all-beef hot dogs, shoestring fries and freshly churned frozen custard.

Freddy’s now has over 560 outposts in 36 states. It plans to reach 800 units by 2026. To achieve that, the brand has targeted key markets, including New Jersey, Washington, Illinois, Iowa and Texas.

Other tenants include Just Salad, Paris Baguette, Tacoria Mexican Street Kitchen, Cava, Honeygrow, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Nothing Bundt Cakes, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, Panda Express, Chase Bank, Olive Garden, Walmart and Longhorn Steakhouse.
