Hackensack Meridian Hackensack University Medical Center, leads the NJBIZ list of New Jersey hospitals with 55,726 inpatient discharges.
Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center followed with 47,652 discharges. Trish O’Keefe oversees operations at the facility, which recorded 944,496 outpatient visits and where 2,149 physicians practice.
Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center, with 45,691 patient discharges, is third on the list. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick (36,595 discharges) and Cooper University Health Care in Camden (32,546) round out the top five.
Cooper reported 2.4 million outpatient visits — a figure that surpassed all others on the list. Kevin O’Dowd and Anthony Mazzarelli lead a workforce there of 14,000 employees, 1,000 physicians and 1,671 nurses. The hospital has operated since 1887.
At the other end of the spectrum, Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood recorded 6,287 inpatient discharges. Eric Carney, Philip Passes and Mabel LaForgia lead its operations.
Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington reported 948,688 outpatient visits while recording only 7,090 inpatient discharges, placing it 49th on the list.
As for potential mergers, in January, RWJBarnabas Health and Englewood Health signed an agreement under which Englewood Health would become part of RWJBarnabas Health, pending state and federal approvals. Englewood Hospital posted 18,354 inpatient discharges.
