North Hudson Community Action Corp. opened its latest location in New Jersey with a slate of officials on hand to celebrate the Federally Qualified Health Center’s 10th office in New Jersey and its first located within a hospital facility.
Leaders from NHCAC joined with those from Hudson Regional Hospital Jan. 24 to open the center, based on the second floor at HRH in Secaucus.
“We are excited to have North Hudson Community Action Corp. operating from our Secaucus location. Its leadership and clinicians will provide an essential healthcare component to our community,” said Dr. Nizar Kifaieh, president and CEO for Hudson Regional Hospital, said in a statement. “Residents of Secaucus can now receive full medical and preventative care here within the walls of our organization with our new partner.”

Also on hand to celebrate the opening were New Jersey Department of Health Deputy Commissioner Deborah Hartel; Secaucus Councilmembers John Gerbasio (also a NHCAC board member), Robert Costantino and Orietta Tringali; and Secaucus Town Attorney Gary Jeffas.
At Hudson Regional, NHCAC will offer primary and pediatric care as well as family planning and women’s health services.
NHCAC is the largest FQHC operator in New Jersey. In 2022, it served about 60,000 patients across its facilities, vaccinated thousands more in offsite locations, and engaged in clinical trials to evaluate new medicines and treatments, according to an announcement.
The provider has additional locations in Jersey City, Union City, West New York, Harrison, Englewood, Garfield, Hackensack and Passaic.
“We are also excited to provide services in Secaucus,” North Hudson Board Chair Joseph Muniz said. “Mayor Gonnelli and Council members often spoke to me about the need to expand primary care in their community, and I am glad we are able to do so.”
Hudson Regional Hospital earned an A grade – improving from its prior B – in the most recent Hospital Safety Grades, released by The Leapfrog Group in November. The hospital has invested more than $40 million in upgrades and technology and offers centers of excellence for robotic GYN, spine, joint replacement and bariatric surgeries. It is also a center of excellence for minimally invasive surgery and has had the greatest reduction in C-section rates in Hudson County, according to the organization.
Patients with and without insurance are welcome at the new NHCAC location, as all FQHC’s offer quality primary care to everyone who needs it — whether or not they can pay for it.
