Discount grocer Lidl US is getting ready to add another supermarket in New Jersey.
Located at 651 Route 17 in Paramus, the store is scheduled to begin welcoming customers Feb. 12, according to the Arlington, Va.-based chain.
First-day festivities will include a 7:40 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. Following the grand opening, the location will operate 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Lidl is known for offering high-quality fresh produce, meat, baked goods and household items at low prices. The 51-year-old German-born brand has more than 12,000 stores worldwide.
After establishing a U.S. headquarters a decade ago, Lidl launched more than 180 locations along the East Coast.
Locally, Lidl has over two dozen stores, including sites in Livingston, Morristown, Bergenfield, Park Ridge, Elmwood Park, Weehawken, Belleville, Bayonne, Union, Garwood, Woodbridge, Hazlet, North Brunswick, Cherry Hill, Brick Township and Eatontown.
In Paramus, Lidl takes over a formerly vacant end cap space at a property that includes Burlington, Home Goods and Pet Goods.
Progressive Grocer noted Lidl joins a competitive supermarket scene in Paramus. Other food retailers in the Bergen County borough include: Amazon Fresh, H Mart, BJ’s Wholesale Club, NetCost Market, ShopRite, Stew Leonard’s, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods Market.
