Amazon Fresh is unveiling a recently completed remodel of its 51,000-square-foot supermarket in Paramus.
After undergoing upgrades, the East Ridgewood Avenue location features the company’s latest brick-and-mortar design unveiled last year in Illinois and California. The format revolves around a larger grocery selection, expanded online access and additional self-checkout stations.
In addition to smart shopping carts, palm-based payment devices and Alexa-powered kiosks, Amazon Fresh also features a wide selection of fresh produce, meat, seafood, private-label and national brands. Delivery and free pickup options are available, too.
According to an Amazon spokesperson, the store remained open during the remodeling.
They went on to say, “As Amazon continues its journey to become the most loved grocer, these re-openings reflect our effort to create a fantastic shopping experience—whether customers shop in-store or online.”
To celebrate the renovation, Amazon Fresh will host a special event Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring holiday treats, demos and complimentary photos with Santa Claus.
The Paramus store initially opened back in July 2022 as the Seattle e-commerce giant’s first Amazon Fresh outpost in New Jersey.
While the company revealed plans to add stores in Lodi, Eatontown, Holmdel and Woodland Park soon after Paramus, it put development on hold to tweak its strategy. By November 2023, Amazon was back with a new approach to boost shopper appeal.
Since then, Amazon has opened nearly 20 stores across the U.S. and plans to open more locations this year and into the next. That includes three stores in New Jersey: Eatontown, Lodi and Woodland Park.
Currently, there are over 55 Amazon Fresh sites across California, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington and Virginia.
Additional details on any other future New Jersey openings have not been announced. However, Amazon has said it remains “committed to grocery and will selectively open new Amazon Fresh stores as we see positive customer feedback on the new format.”
