Suburban Propane is helping professional racecars stay on track.
As part of a recently announced multiyear partnership, the Whippany-based distributor and NASCAR unveiled a new propane-powered track dryer at the Daytona 500. Held Feb. 16 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., it marked the first race of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Under the terms of the arrangement with NASCAR, Suburban Propane provides propane for the new track dyers being added this season.
According to Suburban Propane, using propane is more fuel efficient than diesel or gasoline and results in less overall pollutants. The solution also complements NASCAR’s current track drying efforts, as well as helps racecar drivers get back on the circuit as quickly as possible.
Additionally, Suburban Propane serves as the official propane supplier for 19 major speedways across the U.S. The collaboration involves on-site services for campers during NASCAR events, propane for in-stadium concessions and year-round support services at track properties, too.
Nandini Sankara, vice president, Marketing & Brand Strategy at Suburban Propane, described the partnership as “a natural fit.”
“Propane is a quiet, yet dependable contributor to race day, providing consistent, versatile, and clean energy solutions that touch nearly every aspect of the event. From drying the track to fueling the fan experience, we’re proud to power the passion that makes the NASCAR experience a truly extraordinary event,” she said.
Michelle Byron, NASCAR executive vice president, chief partnership and licensing officer, added, “The partnership between NASCAR and Suburban Propane will enhance the fan experience by providing reliable, convenient propane services at our tracks. Whether it’s fueling the campgrounds or helping get race cars back on the track, Suburban Propane helps ensure NASCAR fans stay powered up through the race weekend.”
Founded in 1928, Suburban Propane is a nationwide distributor of propane, renewable propane, renewable natural gas, fuel oil and related products and services, as well as a marketer of natural gas and electricity and producer of and investor in low carbon fuel alternatives.
The company services the energy needs of approximately 1 million residential, commercial, governmental, industrial and agricultural customers through approximately 700 locations nationwide.
