Newsweek ranks 7 from NJ among the World’s Best Hospitals

Newsweek’s annual list of the World’s Best Hospitals is out for 2022, with seven from the Garden State making appearances, and the highest ranking among them cracking the top 50.

Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center came in at No. 46 on the list of more than 2,200 hospitals worldwide.

According to the health care system, this year marks the fourth in a row that Morristown Medical Center and fellow AHS facility Overlook Medical Center (No. 168) were included in the rankings.

The hospitals on Newsweek’s 2022 list represents 27 countries, including three new ones added this year: Colombia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The rankings are based on responses to an online survey distributed to nearly 80,000 medical experts — physicians, managers and other professionals — across participating countries. Each hospital is rated with a score based on recommendations from the experts, available hospital performance data and patient satisfaction.

We strive to bring the most innovative advancements in medicine resulting in the best possible outcomes and personalized positive experiences,” Morristown Medical Center President Trish O’Keefe said in a statement.

Added Overlook Medical Center President Stephanie Schwartz: “The compassion and attention shown by every clinician and member of our staff, the advanced technology and procedures we use, the innovative approach to care, are all part of creating an exceptional experience for the patients and their loved ones who rely on us.”

Only one other state-based system had multiple facilities appear on the 2022 list: RWJBarnabas Health, whose Newark Beth Israel Medical Center was ranked for the fourth consecutive year, along with its Monmouth Medical Center.
