Jersey Mike’s Subs has been named as the Official Sub Sandwich of the National Football League as part of a new multiyear partnership.
Under the agreement announced March 31, the Manasquan-based chain will receive exclusive marketing rights and designations that will connect it with the NFL and football fans in North America.
According to the press release, that includes serving as presenting sponsor of a football fan festival at the 2025 NFL Draft later this month in Green Bay, Wis., and a custom experiential activation for Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, Calif., next year.
Additionally, Jersey Mike’s will sponsor NFL FLAG, the official flag football league of the NFL and largest youth flag football organization in the U.S., and the Pro Bowl Games Fan Vote.
The brand will also be a presenting sponsor of the Don Shula High School Coach of the Year Award. The honor recognizes the best high school football coaches for their contributions on and off the field.
Jersey Mike’s Chief Marketing Officer Rich Hope noted the franchise’s sandwiches “have long been a go-to choice for football fans on gameday whether at home or a tailgating event.”
Hope went on, “Jersey Mike’s and our local owners across the country are excited to elevate our football game by partnering with NFL, the No. 1 sports property in the U.S., to engage with their passionate football fans throughout the year.”
Tracie Rodburg, senior vice president of sponsorship at the NFL, said the organization is excited to welcome Jersey Mike’s as its Official Sub Sandwich sponsor.
“Jersey Mike’s shares the league’s commitment of giving back to local communities, and to fans and customers alike. We’re thrilled to have Jersey Mike’s on board across the NFL’s key tentpoles and initiatives, including NFL Flag programming across the U.S., as we continue to drive growth of the sport from the grassroots to the elite level,” Rodburg said.
The deal with the NFL comes two years after the National Hockey League designated Jersey Mike’s as its Official Sub Sandwich. According to a Jersey Mike’s spokesperson, that pact is still in effect.
Founded in 1956, Jersey Mike’s started out as a small sandwich shop in Point Pleasant. With more than 4,000 locations open and in development, it is now one of the fastest-growing quick service restaurants in the U.S.
In January, Jersey Mike’s completed the sale of a majority stake to private equity giant Blackstone for a reported $8 billion. Blackstone has said Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO Peter Cancro will maintain “a significant equity stake” and will still lead the business as it continues to expand.
Jersey Mike’s isn’t the only New Jersey company teaming up with the NFL this year.
Novartis signed on in March as the league’s first-ever corporate pharmaceutical partner. The Swiss pharma giant – which has its U.S. headquarters in East Hanover – said it aims to empower football fans to make proactive decisions about their health, better understand screening guidelines and plan for a healthier future.
