  • Inroads to Opportunities, a Union County-based nonprofit human services agency that provides programs and services to individuals with disabilities, recently unveiled its first-ever LULA (Limited Use Limited Access) Lift at 301 Cox St. In Roselle.   • On Feb. 23, the LPGA hosted the Cognizant Founders Cup kick-off reception at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, bringing together local business leaders, sponsors and dignitaries to celebrate women’s golf and the importance of empowering women in sports and business. LPGA fan and New York Knicks General Manager, Scott Perry served as a guest speaker at the event. The LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup will take place May 10-14, and pays tribute to the 13 founding members of the LPGA. Teaneck-based Cognizant will continue to serve as Title Sponsor for the 2023 for the event which offers a $3 million purse. From left, Becky Newell, senior director – Sponsorships, LPGA; state Sen.   • From left, Gisell Mason and Courtney Peters of TD Bank in Atlantic City recently delivered more than 80 cans and packages of hearty soups as part of the “Soup”er Bowl collection at Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties. The soup will be distributed to people in need in the community. Overall, the organization collected more than 300 cans of soup in 2023, its third year holding the campaign.<br />

  • Twenty-five Paterson STEAM High School students recently participated in a two-part, four-hour financial literacy session presented by Kearny Bank, with Jacqueline Gibbs, Kearny Bank’s first vice president / fair lending officer, and Larry Ford, assistant vice president / retail relationships manager at the bank’s Ocean Grove branch, serving as primary presenters. The event was conducted in conjunction with the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) as part of the organization’s “I AM” Youth Leadership Program.   • Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus hosted 25 Secaucus High School students for its first annual Healthcare Career Day Feb. 17. Students toured the facility with hospital leadership and then shadowed staff in the radiology, emergency room/ICU, surgery center, physical therapy and internal medicine/OneMD practice areas.   • Internationally renowned artist Willie Cole, a Newark native, unveiled two chandelier-like sculptures made from more than 6,000 plastic water bottles at Express Newark in the city’s landmark Hahne Building Feb. 2. The sculptures, called “Spirit Catcher” and “Lumen-Less Lantern,” are held together with metal wire and will hang year-long as installations in the building’s atrium and the lobby of Express Newark, the center for socially engaged art and design at Rutgers University-Newark. They are part of Express Newark’s year-long showcasing of work based on the theme “Aliveness,” which informs the center’s programming of art installations, immersive films, public lessons, studio sessions and community classes.
