  • Local and state leaders gathered Oct. 15 to celebrate the newly renovated façade of Manjal South Indian Restaurant, a milestone in Fair Lawn Main Street Inc.’s Storefront Improvement Program. Among those in attendance were NJ India Commission Executive Director Rajal Bath, Assemblywoman Lisa Swain, Bergen County Clerk John Hogan, Undersheriff Jin Sung Kim, Fair Lawn Mayor Cristina Cutrone, Deputy Mayors Josh Reinitz and Gail Rottenstrich, Chamber of Commerce President Stella Lemberg, Board of Education Member Julie Kossoy, and representatives from SCORE, U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer’s Office, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, Equus and the Bergen County Job Center.   • Nearly 200 clients, alumni, current partners and attorneys, and community leaders celebrated Newark-headquartered law firm McCarter & English LLP's 180th anniversary at Baltusrol Golf Club in October. Attendees enjoyed reminiscing over old pictures, stories about the firm’s representations of Annie Oakley and Albert Edison, and its involvement in the development of the New Jersey Turnpike. Today, 180 years from its beginnings in Sussex County, McCarter is a national firm with more than 425 attorneys working from 12 offices up and down the East Coast and Indianapolis. - PROVIDED BY MCCARTER AND ENGLISH
  • Six Flags Wild Safari recently welcomed five new zebra foals to its herd. All the babies are Grant’s zebras, the smallest and most geographically widespread subspecies of plains zebra native to eastern Africa.   • Exelon, one of the nation’s largest utility companies, rang the opening bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite Oct. 13 in Times Square to commemorate the company’s 25th anniversary.   • Basking Ridge-based Affinity Federal Credit Union came together during October’s federal bank holiday to host its annual Impact Day. This year, over 370 employees from across all 20 branch locations gathered at Affinity headquarters to pack nearly 5,000 meals in partnership with the food rescue organization Table to Table. - PROVIDED BY AFFINITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
  • In October, Doherty Enterprises-owned Applebee’s in New York and New Jersey announced raising $144,755 this past summer for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. The money goes to help find cures for children with cancer. A check presentation took place at Applebee’s in Clark.
