  • Award-winning actor and New Jersey native Meryl Streep stopped by the New Jersey Hall of Fame (NJHOF) at American Dream in East Rutherford this month to film her remarks for the NJHOF's 16th annual Induction Ceremony. Streep will join the NJHOF as part of the Class of 2024. Hosted by Danny DeVito, the presentation is scheduled to broadcast on My9 in November and premiere on social media in January. <br />

  • On Sept. 11, five-time UFC champion Conor McGregor participated in the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund’s Charity Day. He spent the morning with other celebrities, like Mathew McConaughey, former President Bill Clinton and Rosie Perez to name a few. McGregor was raising money for NYPD’s Cops & Kids Boxing and The Harlem Free Fight Academy. He then traveled to New Jersey for a few promotional events with key distributors of his brands – Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey and Forged Irish Stout. McGregor visited Total Wine in River Edge New and River Rock in Brick Township.<br />

  • More than 500 people turned out for the 10th annual LUNG FORCE Walk New Jersey at Duke Island Park Sept. 14. The event raised over $130,000 for research, advocacy and education for lung diseases including lung cancer. The event also honored Dr. Eshan Patel, a distinguished oncologist specializing in lung cancer, and serving as director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset. Nationally, since 2014, the LUNG FORCE movement has raised over $30 million for lung cancer research.<br />

  • Representatives from Main Street America came to the Borough of Fair Lawn Sept. 10-11 to meet with various community stakeholders and businesses, interface with residents and government officials and advise Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. on transformation strategies for the River Road / Fair Lawn Avenue district.   • Affinity Federal Credit Union officially opened its 20th branch location Sept. 12 in Lawrenceville. Affinity celebrated with the community, holding an official ribbon-cutting ceremony as well as recognizing four charitable organizations with $5,000 grants. According to the member-owned, full-service financial institution, the branch’s debut and associated grants represent Affinity’s continued commitment to supporting and improving each community it serves.   • Fulton Bank was recently recognized at the Pentagon as a recipient of the 2024 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the Department of Defense to employers for their exceptional support of National Guard and Reserve members. Based in Lancaster, Pa., Fulton boasts more than 200 financial centers across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
