Recently acquired Playa Bowls continues to grow its footprint across the U.S.
The Belmar-based superfruit bowl shop announced Nov. 7 it signed 52 franchise commitments and 11 store openings during the third quarter of 2024.
In the company’s home state of New Jersey, it secured two commitments: one in Toms River and another in Oceanport.
Playa Bowls said the new contracts expand its network in established and new markets. Since the start of 2024, Playa Bowls has secured 195 franchise commitments, 55% of which were signed by existing franchisees.
“Our success in 2024 has been remarkable, with over 275 stores nationwide, 75 openings expected this year, and nearly 300 franchise commitments driving our future expansion,” Playa Bowls Chief Development Officer Jayson Tipp said in a statement.
In September, New York City-based Sycamore Partners acquired the business from Tamarix Equity Partners for an undisclosed sum.
“Playa Bowls has built a unique category leadership position with passionate customers, a loyal franchise base, and a great brand, which has allowed the company to scale rapidly in its first decade since inception,” Stefan Kaluzny, managing director of Sycamore, said at that time.
Founded in 2014 by Abby Taylor and Rob Giuliani, Playa Bowls offers acai, pitaya, mango, green and coconut bowls as well as oatmeal bowls, juices, smoothies and cold brew.
