Premium fresh-cut fries concept New York Fries launched its second outpost in New Jersey.
Located in the dining pavilion at Newport Centre in Jersey City, the corporate-owned spot opened April 23 as the brand’s third U.S. restaurant.
After starting in 1983 as a small fry shop at Manhattan’s South Street Seaport, New York Fries went on to become a staple at food courts throughout Canada. Now owned by Recipe Restaurant Group, a Canadian food conglomerate, the chain has more than 130 locations throughout Canada and the Middle East.
In January, New York Fries returned to the U.S., opening a spot at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, Long Island. A month later, it debuted in New Jersey at Menlo Park Mall in Edison.
New York Fries’ menu features a variety of plain and loaded fresh cut, cooked-to-order fries made with Idaho potatoes in non-hydrogenated sunflower oil.
It also serves a classic Canadian delicacy, poutine, topped with beef gravy and Wisconsin cheese curds. The menu additionally features all-beef grilled hot dogs with an array of loaded options as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free items.

New York Fries Chief Operating Officer Craig Burt commented, “Since opening our first two locations on the East Coast, the reception from communities and fry-lovers has been nothing short of amazing.”
“Our concept is a great addition to mall food courts and Newport Centre is the perfect place for our next restaurant. As our fresh-cut fries and all-beef grilled hot dogs continue taking over the East Coast, we’re excited to officially open in Jersey City,” Burt said.
New York Fries at Newport Centre is open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Following its arrival in Jersey City, New York Fries plans to open at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, N.Y., as part of a strategic expansion effort.
