When Fright Fest returns to Six Flags Great Adventure next month, some of the thrills and chills will cost a few extra bills.

Presented in partnership with Newark-based Mars’ Snickers brand chocolate, the event will run select nights from Sept. 12–Nov. 2 at the Jackson theme park.

According to Six Flags, this year’s lineup also offers branded experiences based on Hollywood horror franchises “The Conjuring,” “Saw,” “Trick r’ Treat” and “Texas Chain Saw Massacre.” Additionally, the 2025 event will offer haunted mazes featuring an asylum, demonic clowns and witches.

A Haunted Attractions Pass is required for admission to these areas. Season passholders will have to purchase the separate add-on ticket, too. While the pass is standard for the Jackson park, it’s now an add-on for properties including Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pa.

Depending on the date, the base Haunted Attractions Pass costs between $35 to $39. A bundle option also includes park admission as well as an express pass offering expedited entry into all haunted attractions for one night or the entire season.

Included with the price of admission

Previously, haunted houses and mazes were included with general park admission. Attractions Magazine noted that Six Flags piloted the pricing model at a few other parks before rolling it out to the rest of the portfolio.

For those who don’t want to purchase the pass, there are several other Halloween happenings to enjoy, Six Flags said.

According to the park, five “scare zones” (Plaza De La Muerte, CarnEvil, Curse of Blackbeard’s Bounty, Exile Canyon and The Bloody Fountain), four live shows and most rides are included with general park admission.

Commenting on this year’s event, Six Flags Chief Commercial Officer Christian Dieckmann said, “It’s an unbeatable lineup of innovative, immersive entertainment including iconic Hollywood horror franchises and original, next-level terror. Our haunted mazes, scare zones, live shows and world-class rides will create unforgettable memories this fall.”

Fright Fest is not recommended for children under 13 or those who scare easily.

Not too spooky

For guests looking for less trick and more treat, Six Flags will host daytime family-friendly fall events, like Kids Boo Fest. Running select dates Sept. 13–Nov. 2, youngsters can trick-or-treat, see a not-so-spooky show and enjoy Halloween theming throughout the park.

Six Flags Entertainment Corp. considers Fright Fest one of its most popular times of the year at its North American theme parks. Since getting its start in 1986 at a Six Flags in Texas, the Halloween-themed event has expanded to other locations.

The operator recently said it was ending its decade-old Holiday in the Park winter festivities at Great Adventure. The move aims to better focus on “delivering exceptional guest experiences during our core operating season – spring through fall.”

Since completing an $8 billion merger with rival chain Cedar Fair last year, Six Flags’ portfolio spans 42 theme parks, water parks and resorts.

In July, Six Flags marked the one-year anniversary of the Cedar Fair deal by offering season passholders a major perk. From July 29 through Sept. 1, guests who purchase or renew a season pass at Great Adventure will automatically score free access to the theme park giant’s 41 other properties in North America for the remainder of 2025 and all of 2026.

Besides Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, the company’s lineup of parks includes several others within driving distance, such as Six Flags New England, Kings Dominion and Dorney Park.
