Fast-casual concept SQ Pizza, which specializes in authentic Roman-style square-shaped pies, is expanding its footprint in Bergen County.
Located at 200 Market St. in Montvale, the recently opened restaurant serves pizza that can be ordered by the slice, six-slice half pan or 12-slice full pan.
Made from high-hydration, long-rising dough crafted from non-GMO wheat flour, the pizza comes in varieties ranging from classic margherita to buffalo chicken. The menu also includes two gluten-free crust options as well as a vegan pizza. Additionally, SQ Pizza offers fresh gelato, pizza bread, pasta dishes, salads and desserts.
The BYOB spot is open daily for lunch and dinner and provides catering services.
Owned and operated by husband-wife team George and Anoush Georgiades, SQ Pizza opened three years ago in Mahwah at 380 Route 17 S. The longtime Mahwah residents are also the founding partners of Eons. That fast-casual Greek eatery has outposts in New York City, Paramus and Montvale.
Prior to Eons’ 2015 launch, George Georgiades was a chef and partner at fine-dining Greek seafood restaurant Varka in Ramsey.
His professional background also includes working at several top-notch establishments in the metropolitan area, such as Le Cote Basque, Hudson River Club, Bar Six and Chez Es Saada.
Anoush Georgiades, a Julliard-trained musician and teacher of violin, viola and piano, supported her early music career by working in numerous Manhattan restaurants. She met George Georgiades when he was working as chef at Avra Estiatorio. After marrying and starting a family, they began planning concepts closer to their Bergen County home.
Commenting on the opening of their second SQ Pizza, Anoush Georgiades told NJBIZ, “We wanted to grow the brand and provide a better pizza option for the community since we use pure ingredients such as imported flour from Italy.”
She added, “Growing SQ Pizza is, for us, similar to growing and raising one of our children – doing our best for it and helping the community we’re a part of.”
